Sébastien Buret pratique le design graphique et la photographie de façon professionnelle et (ré)créative. Il collabore avec une clientèle variée sur des projets d’édition, et là où le graphisme et la photographie l’appellent, s’entremêlent et font sens. La mise en lumière de personnalités, de savoir-faire, de l’activité humaine est un leitmotiv dans son quotidien, tout comme se rapprocher des individus et de leur quête personnelle — ou collective — pour en être un témoin privilégié, et d’en restituer le récit ou la rencontre à échelle humaine.
En marge de son travail, Sébastien documente le Breaking de façon immersive et passionnée, ce qui fait naître ponctuellement des projets enthousiasmants et plaisants à partager.

S'adonnant au Graffiti depuis le début des années 90, Sébastien utilise la photographie pour archiver avec les moyens du bord, son travail éphémère et les traces d'une culture “underground” qui l'entoure. Commençant à collaborer avec le fanzine Graff It! en 1999, il entamera son chemin dans le monde de l'édition et des magazines, et par extension, de la photographie. En mars 2005, après un reportage de 10 jours sur le graffiti des rues de Berlin, il prend conscience de la bienfaisance que cette dernière lui apporte et de son intérêt, pour témoigner de la créativité et de l'unité de la culture Hip Hop. Il décide alors de pousser plus loin ce qui n'était qu'une activité d'archivage.

Sébastien Buret is as much a professional graphic designer as he is a professional photographer. His mastery of these two disciplines has developed hand-in-hand, the knowledge of one feeding into the other. The result is a unique understanding of the physical aspects of both, with film photography and print-focused design combining in his work of publishing books and magazines, designing cultural and institutional communications and developing visual identities. His focus remains on the individual, getting as close as possible to the subjects of his photography as he does to the ideas of graphic design projects.
In regards to photography, this personal approach along with a sensitive eye for portraiture has allowed for the genuine capturing of personalities, cultural movements and real life moments. His work has always been personal, and thus it has the power to act as a sort of trustworthy witness to the stories and cultures he immerses himself in. This means that any outputs, whether photography, design or both, always remain on a human scale.
The fact that all of this happens within the highest standards of analog photography, print publication and graphic design is what makes Sébastien Buret uniquely valuable as a visual communicator.

His journey into publishing began in 1999 when he started collaborating with the fanzine *Graff It!*, which eventually deepened his connection to both magazines and photography. Fast forward to March 2005, a key moment in his artistic evolution: during a 10-day exploration of Berlin’s street graffiti scene, he experienced firsthand the profound influence this creative realm had on him. Witnessing the innovation and camaraderie of Hip Hop culture fueled his passion for storytelling through images. This experience inspired him to elevate what once was simply an act of archiving into a dedicated pursuit—a way to preserve and share the creative spirit of an oft-overlooked world.
